Why no info on Catalani contract?
It's been over one month since the Illinois Supreme Court ruled in Mark O. Stern's favor in his case against Wheaton Warrenville Unit District 200. The case, regarding the district's refusal to comply with Stern's FOIA request, seeking the release of former Superintendent Gary Catalani's employment contract finally came to an end on May 21.
We are very surprised that the Daily Herald hasn't published any information regarding the contents of the contract after the protracted legal battle and the puzzling refusal by the district, even after being instructed by Attorney General Lisa Madigan (twice) and the Illinois Appellate Court to release the contract. By checking out Mark Stern's Web site, www.markostern.com, it is easy to see why the district fought so hard ($62,000 in legal fees) to keep the contract away from taxpayer scrutiny. We think that this is important information for the taxpayers of District 200 to be aware of, and we want to thank Mark Stern for his efforts.
