Pin drop for SpaceNet:

Registration continues for the Batavia Pin Drop contest, which takes place at 8 p.m. Saturday at Windmill City Festival. First place is a plasma-screen TV, second is a Blu-ray Disc player, and third place is a GPS device. Tickets are $10 apiece, or three for $25. Buy them at the Batavia Civic Center, 327 W. Wilson St., or the Eastside Community Center, 14 N. Van Buren St. A portion of the proceeds will be spent on replacing the SpaceNet playground equipment at Engstrom Family Park. Call (630) 879-5235.

Tour accelerator:

Scientists at Fermilab in Batavia will offer "Antimatter Tours" at 10 a.m. Saturday and Aug. 8 to people 10 and older. It begins with a 45-minute presentation, followed by a two-hour tour that includes a walk through a section of the accelerator tunnel used to produce antiprotons. Elburn bike map:

The village of Elburn along with the League of Illinois Bicyclists has released the Bike to Metra guide for the village. The guide contains a map with preferred bicycle routes around the Metra station as well as bicycling and railroad safety tips. You can obtain a copy at the village hall, 301 E. North St., or at the village's Web site, elburn.il.us.

Museum promo for kids:

Children who participate in the "Passport to Adventure" program will find plenty of opportunities for excitement and journeys through history at Preservation Partners of the Fox Valley's Fabyan Villa Museum, Japanese Garden, Durant House Museum and Beith House Museum. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, children 4 to 12 with Passports in hand can explore these museums and others in Kane and DuPage counties. If they collect seven stamps, they will receive a prize. Shakespeare at Cantigny:

"The Taming of the Shrew" will be presented at 6 p.m. July 19 in the gardens at Cantigny Park, 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton. The early comedy by William Shakespeare will be performed by The Midsummer Theatre Troupe. Tickets are $10 and may be ordered by calling (630) 260-8162 or visiting cantigny.org.
