Mount Prospect teen charged with DUI

Mount Prospect police charged an 18-year-old Mount Prospect man with driving under the influence of alcohol after he crashed his car into a tree near his house over the weekend.

Police responded to the one-vehicle crash at 1:11 a.m. Friday on the 1300 block of Indigo Drive. Police said the driver, Kyriakos Iatropoulos, of 1420 Indigo Drive, was driving northbound on Cree Lane when he failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway that appears before Cree turns into Indigo. His 1992 Toyota Corolla struck two mailboxes before ramming into a large parkway tree at 1324 Indigo Drive.

Iatropoulos was taken by ambulance to the intensive care unit at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening, police said.

Iatropoulos was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and leaving the roadway. He is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. July 27 in Rolling Meadows.
