Change our state name to Tax-Us

This would be to honor us foolish taxpayers who continue to elect and then re-elect people who are just like irresponsible students who after graduating from college start their new lives by getting about six credit cards and immediately start maxing them out.

The first thing a new legislator does when elected is size up the other legislators and voters. Then the person gets into the taxercise mode (new word specifically for Springfield politicians).

What this means is to horsetrade to make other legislators happy, do favors for donors, and take some token actions to satisfy foolish voters. Unfortunately the effects of eventual dramatic increased taxation caused by these actions does not get factored into future actions for many years.

For example look at the pension fund and pension benefit deficit.

Unfortunately the Big 3 in Springfield - Quinn, Madigan, and Cullerton - are all together. Where did these guys come from?

The above foolishnes is already resulting in small businesses leaving our state. An associate of mine who is starting a new business went to a meeting in Indiana sponsored by that state a few weeks ago. At this affair some other Illinois entrepreneurs were offered a considerable amount of money to relocate to Indiana. The sad part of this for Illinois is that at least four of these seemingly great new businesses agreed to relocate to Indiana at this meeting. Imagine what will happen if our income taxes are raised.
