Emmaus House Rummage Sale and Boutique: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 10-11, St. Francis deSales Church, Route 22 and Buesching Road, Lake Zurich. $3 bag sale begins at 10 a.m. Saturday. Sale benefits Emmaus House, an organization that provides assistance to area families in crisis in an effort to prevent homelessness. Max Schewitz Foundation event: 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 18, Wildlife Discovery Center, 1401 Middlefork Drive, Lake Forest. The $10 admission ($30 for a family) includes entrance to all exhibits, hands-on contact with a variety of reptiles, face painting, games, and crafts to take home. The event helps support the Max Schewitz Foundation, which works to help prevent the death of young adults due to sudden cardiac events and to protect threatened reptile species (a passion of Max Schewitz's). St. Bede Knights of Columbus Fundraiser: All-day event starting with a car show at 9 a.m., Saturday, July 25, St. Bede Church, Rt. 59 and Wilson Road, Ingleside. In addition to the car show, events include casino games at 6 p.m. and the Lakes Area Swing Band at 7 p.m. Food and beer will be available. For information, call Gilbert Volling, at (847) 356-6867.

It Can Be Done: Mondays and Tuesdays, Francesca's Intimo, 293 E Illinois Road, Lake Forest. Francesca's Intimo has agreed to donate 15 percent of patrons' bills to the nonprofit organization It Can Be Done! on Mondays and Tuesdays if the customer mentions the organization to a restaurant employee. The proceeds will benefit the purchasing of a drill to construct wells throughout the 12 villages of Uru on Mount Kilimanjaro, providing the 30,000 people living there with freshwater.
