PADS offers GED program:
DuPage Public Action to Deliver Shelter has partnered with the College of DuPage and Literacy Volunteers of DuPage to offer basic literacy and GED course preparation at the homeless shelter program's Daytime Support Center. Mentors from Literacy Volunteers of DuPage already assist individuals who are reading at a rudimentary level so they may move into more advanced adult basic education classes. In the adult education classes, instructors from the College of DuPage tutor PADS participants in reading and math so they are prepared to progress to the GED preparation course. Currently, 23 individuals are on their way to gaining their GED. For details, call Carol Simler at (630) 682-3846, Ext. 231.
