Don't govern by convenience
I was struck by a paraphrase of our fill-in Governor Quinn.
He states in part that "As long as I'm governor, we're not going to have a convenient approach to the budget that leaves some people high and dry."
Can it be any more convenient than to load the people with additional income tax? Or increased sales tax? I think Quinn's been in government too long. He needs to go. The sooner the better.
A truly inconvenient (at least to the state) approach would be to reorganize, restructure, contract out (competitively) all manner of work. Quinn needs to start thinking straight. Illinois government is way too expensive anyway.
