Aurora police report missing teenage girls found safe
The two missing runaways being sought by Aurora police have been found on Chicago's northwest side.
Ziomara Gutierrez, 16, of the 800 block of Spring Street, and 15-year-old Natasha Gonzales of Rockford were found early Friday in the area of Cortland and Lawndale by Chicago Police.
They were reported missing June 22 after failing to return home from an overnight trip to Chicago on June 18.
Aurora police were concerned for their safety after family members of the girls said unknown males answered their cell phones several times over the past week and implied the teens were being held against their will.
As it turns out, Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said, the teens had their purses and cell phones stolen while they were at a city beach. When their family members called, whoever answered the phones spoke in a threatening manner.
The phones have not been recovered and there are no arrests. Police consider the case closed.
