Take a stand against gun registration law
Bill HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009 has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Basically this would make it illegal to own a firearm - any rifle with a clip or any pistol unless it is registered, you are fingerprinted, you supply a current Driver's License, you supply your social security number, and you will submit to a physical and mental evaluation at any time of their choosing. Each update - change in ownership through private sale must be reported and costs $25.
On four occasions - 1866, 1941, 1986 and 2005 - Congress enacted statutes to reaffirm the Second Amendment's guarantee of personal freedom and to adopt specific safeguards to enforce it.
Specifically, a provision was added to the Property Acquisition Act of 1941 that was essential for the preservation of the individual right to keep and bear arms because if private guns were registered, the government could confiscate them.
Today President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder and others do not want any law abiding person to have guns regardless of the Second Amendment.
Mayor Daley does not want the citizens of Chicago to have guns, but he is well protected by armed guards.
This bill will eventually lead to complete confiscation of guns and disarming of our society to the point that we have no defense. Only the criminals and gangbangers will have the guns and we will not be able to protect ourselves, our families, our homes, and our neighborhoods.
Please call all of our Illinois Representatives and tell them to vote no on HR 45. Tell everyone you know, even if you or they do not own a gun.
