Several hospitalized after chemical reaction at Glendale Hts. pool

Several people were hospitalized as a precautionary measure after a chlorine chemical reaction in the equipment room of the Glendale Heights public pool Tuesday, village officials said.

Glendale Heights police and five fire departments responded to the pool at 250 E. Fullerton around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday. The pool was evacuated as a precaution, officials said. Several village employees who were in the immediate vicinity of the chemical were taken to local hospitals for evaluation. No members of the public were exposed to the chemicals, officials said.

The cause of the chemical reaction is under investigation.
