Credit card forgery equipment found in Schaumburg
A woman wanted on forgery and theft charges in Lake and DuPage counties has been arrested in Schaumburg after authorities said they found equipment used to make phony credit cards at her home.
Camellia Sandra Aaron, 33, of the 1100 block of South Springinsguth Road, was arrested Friday and charged with felony counts of identity theft and unlawful possession of machinery designed to reproduce credit cards. She was being held Monday on a $200,000 bond.
The U.S. Marshals Service had gone to Aaron's home seeking to arrest her on multiple warrants from Lake County and Naperville when they found the forging machinery and brought local police in for the additional charges, Schaumburg police Sgt. John Nebl said.
The warrant from the Lake County state's attorney's office was issued May 19 for three counts of forgery and one count of theft following a Lake County sheriff's investigation.
The DuPage County state's attorney's office had issued a warrant for Aaron's arrest April 2 on three counts each of unlawful use of a credit card and financial identity theft in Naperville. DuPage County authorities also have her listed as living on the 1300 block of Aurora Avenue in Naperville.
The credit card-forging equipment found in her Schaumburg home was a machine that punches names and numbers into blank cards, Nebl said.
Just last month, Aaron paid $400 restitution and was sentenced to 18 months' probation after pleading guilty to a forgery count from an arrest in Des Plaines in May 2008.
According to that arrest report, Aaron had been charged with felony forgery and theft of lost property after taking two credit cards out of a purse whose owner had accidentally left it as a restaurant in Des Plaines where Aaron worked.
She'd tried to use the credit cards to buy two greeting cards and seven gift cards at a Des Plaines Walgreens, the report said.
One card was rejected. The other was accepted, but Aaron left the store without the merchandise after a clerk asked her for an ID. The clerk recognized her as an employee of the restaurant, however, where police later arrested her, the report said.
