Resident complains about noise outside convenience store
A Mount Prospect 24-hour convenience store is keeping some of its neighbors up at night.
Jim Baumel says he has a problem the 7-Eleven located just west of Northwest Highway and Central Road.
"In the middle of the night we hear screaming and laughing," Baumel told his village board on Tuesday. "I have three small kids and this is a problem."
Baumel also said his car tires have been slashed and his garage lights have been broken. He often finds trash on his front lawn in the 100 block of North Fairview.
Trustees told Baumel police will step up their watch in the area.
"Also, put your porch lights on. In fact, light up the whole block," said Trustee Steven Polit. "I just ask that you and your neighbors remain vigilant."
Piano bar coming to Mount Prospect: Edith Seaman wants to open a new restaurant and lounge at 1064 Mount Prospect Plaza. Her piano bar and restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and have a full menu featuring American and Asian cuisines. The location has been vacant since a Chinese buffet restaurant closed several years ago, according to a staff memo.
The Mount Prospect village board unanimously approved Seaman's liquor license on Tuesday.
