Sparton moving HQ from Mich. to Schaumburg
JACKSON, Mich. -- Electronics supplier Sparton Corp. says it is moving its headquarters from Michigan to Schaumburg.
The company said Thursday that 15 salaried employees will relocate or be laid off when its Jackson office closes Oct. 1.
Sparton says in a statement it needs to reduce overhead costs and align corporate operations closer to "strategic market design centers" as it works to return to profitability.
The company announced in March its Jackson manufacturing facility will close around June 30. Products made in the Jackson plant are moving to facilities in Brooksville, Fla., and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
That manufacturing facility closure eliminates the jobs of 39 salaried and 167 hourly workers.
