Teen fitness class:
Teenagers 13 to 18 can work out together with certified personal trainers, and learn to eat more healthfully, in a summer camp that starts Monday at the Persinger Recreation Center, Peck and Kaneville roads in Geneva. The twice-a-week, six-week sessions cost $150 for Geneva Park District residents and $160 for others. There is also three-week session for $80 for residents, $90 for others. Railroad work closes road:
A segment of Roosevelt Road between Kautz and Kress roads in West Chicago will be closed until at least Monday. Union Pacific workers will be making repairs to the rail crossing. Detours will be posted that will utilize Kirk Road to Fabyan Parkway for both eastbound and westbound traffic. For more information and alerts, visit dupageco.org/dot/construction.
Calling all bands:
Marklund is seeking six bands to participate in its third annual "Battle of the Bands" Music Fest from 2 to 8 p.m. Aug. 29 at Marklund's Mill Creek Campus, 1 South 450 Wyatt Drive, Geneva. Marklund is a nonprofit network of services providing a full-life experience for infants, children and adults with developmental disabilities. The registration deadline for bands is July 6. Music Fest is a free outdoor festival celebrating local talent and offering family entertainment. The event is held for Marklund's residents, employees, families and friends, as well for the public. Bands of any type of music are invited to participate. There are two divisions: 18 and younger and 18 and older. Registration is $20. There are three bands in each category, and all bands have 15 minutes to set up and 30 minutes to play. For band registration information, call Stevie Armbruster at (630) 593-5473.
