Geneva Commons concert series to start
What a way to wind down your weekend.
Every Sunday evening in June, from 5 to 7 p.m., Geneva Commons is hosting free concerts as part of its seventh annual Summer Concert Series.
You can sit and watch from your lawn chairs or cozy blankets on the plaza next to Houlihan's in the Randall Road outdoor shopping center.
Or you can get up and dance and sing along with the music, which many fans have been known to do.
Each week, there will be a different type of music playing and a different group featured at the concerts.
The series kicked off last weekend with Class of '68, a 1960s classic rock band.
This coming Sunday, June 21, will take a completely different twist, as OD TAPO IMI plays.
The group will give you a taste of the tropics, with steel drums, pop music, choreography and percussion.
You'll head back to the classic rock genre on June 28 as Hi Infidelity plays, and features hits from REO Speedwagon, Journey, Styx, Foreigner and other classic rock bands.
Everyone is welcome to attend the concerts, which are free, and let you gather with friends, family and neighbors on warm summer nights.
You can also hit the stores and restaurants at Geneva Commons, some of which will be open both before and after the concerts.
Each Sunday, the first 75 people to arrive at the concert series will receive a free comfy folding chair and carrying tote for free.
Cruise Night: Another outdoor activity to enjoy this summer is Cruise Night at the McDonald's along Randall Road in South Elgin.
From 6 to 9 p.m. every Friday night, classic car owners pull their beauties into the McDonald's, which his located on Randall between Silver Glen and McDonald Road.
You don't have to own one of the cars to enjoy the fun.
Spectators are always welcome, as many of the owners love showing off their vehicles.
Wine dinner: Next Tuesday, June 23, Biaggi's restaurant along Randall Road in Algonquin is hosting a dinner featuring the wines of Concannon.
The event begins at 6 p.m. and features a five-course meal specially prepared by Chef Tony Girmscheid to go along with the featured wines.
The cost of the dinner is $50 a person.
Reservations are required.
