District 23 extends teachers' contract

The Prospect Heights Elemetnary District 23 school board and the Prospect Heights Education Association reached an agreement this week to extend the 2006-2010 teachers' contract for a year from July 1, 2010, to June 30, 2011.

Under the extension, the pay for teachers and educational support professionals for the 2010-2011 school year will remain the same as the 2009-2010 academic year without any increases.

"This collaborative effort between the board and the union is a win-win situation for the district and the community," District 23 Superintendent Gregory Guarrine said. "In these uncertain economic times, both parties understood the necessity for prudent action and were able to come together in the spirit of cooperation."

District 23 serves students in Prospect Heights and areas of Wheeling, Arlington Heights, and Mount Prospect.
