Man wanted in Tenn. home invasion nabbed in Woodstock

A 27-year-old Tennessee man named on that state's top 10 most wanted list for home invasion and armed robbery, was arrested Thursday in Woodstock.

William Mitchell of Denmark, Tenn., was wanted for a 2006 home invasion and armed robbery in which he and an unknown accomplice broke into a woman's home in Jackson, Tenn., wearing a mask and armed with a handgun, McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren said in a release.

Mitchell removed his mask and was identified by the victim, the release states.

Authorities said Mitchell stole the woman's purse and its contents.

After learning earlier this week that Mitchell was possibly residing in McHenry County, authorities from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshal Task Force arrested Mitchell on Thursday at the intersection of Illinois Route 47 and Lake Avenue in Woodstock.
