Grayslake man injured in crash

A Grayslake man remained in critical condition Wednesday night following a crash involving two semitrailers in Harvard earlier in the day.

Ryan Russell, 26, was traveling north in a pickup truck on Route 14 at Lindwall Road when traffic slowed for road construction, according to McHenry County sheriff's police. His vehicle was struck from behind by a semitrailer, propelling Russell's vehicle into another pickup in front of him, police said.

The impact caused Russell to lose control and veer into oncoming traffic, where he struck a second semitrailer, according to the report.

Russell was taken by helicopter with unspecified injuries to Rockford Memorial Hospital. The driver of the second pickup truck, William Tietjen, 46, of McHenry, was treated at Harvard Community Memorial Hospital and released. The drivers of the semitrailers were not injured.

Further details were not provided by sheriff's police.
