Buffalo Grove apt. may be sold:

Amli Residential's Chevy Chase apartment complex at 1701 Johnson Drive in Buffalo Grove is expected to be sold in late June to New Jersey-based Penobscot Corp., according to a report Wednesday by Crain's Chicago Business. Penobscot is reportedly paying about $60 million for the 592-unit property, which could provide a much-needed boost to the local real estate market. The Buffalo Grove apartment complex was developed in 1988. The $60 million price tag, puts the sale price of Chevy Chase at about 30 percent below the asking price of $85 million.

Elk Grove parish turns 50:

Queen of the Rosary Parish in Elk Grove Village will kick off a yearlong celebration of its 50th anniversary on Sunday, June 14. Following the 11:30 Mass celebrated by Rev. Edward Pelrine, parishioners will gather on the grounds for the annual parish picnic. Highlights of the celebration include the Nov. 27 All Alumni Reunion being held at the school, Cardinal Francis George celebrating Mass on Nov. 29, parishioners Christmas caroling in December and the parish school's open house to be held Jan. 31, 2010. Queen of the Rosary was established in 1959 when Cardinal Albert Meyer appointed Rev. John Ward Morrison to organize a parish. The first Mass was celebrated on July 5, 1959, in Mark Hopkins School, located at Landmeier and Higgins roads. On May 21, 1961, Meyer dedicated the new church, school and rectory.

New Elk Grove Idol deadline:

The deadline to submit audition tapes for Elk Grove Idol has been extended to Friday, June 26. The Elk Grove Park District will host the third annual Elk Grove Idol contest finals from 6 to 8 p.m. July 26 at Andrews Park at 150 Crest Ave. The event is open to the public. Contestants will be able to perform with a live band in front of a live audience. The preliminary rounds will be held on July 12 and July 19. Audition video tapes must be submitted to the Arts Coordinator in the Pavilion at 1000 Wellington Ave., Elk Grove Village. There is no cost to participate. The contest is divided into two age groups: 16 and under and above 16 years. For more information, call (847) 690-1184.

Barrington meetings online:

Beginning with Barrington's village board meeting of May 26, all of the village's future board meetings will now be available to view online at barrington-il.gov/Government/MeetingMinutes/VillageBoard.html. The village began televising its board meetings on its cable access station a few years ago, but officials hope posting the meeting videos online will provide even greater convenience for citizens, Village President Karen Darch said.

Meacham Road briefly shut:

Southbound Meacham Road at Algonquin Road was shut down for more than three hours Wednesday morning after a truck fell on its side while trying to make a turn. The driver had to be extricated and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Schaumburg police said the truck's load apparently shifted, causing the driver to lose control.
