Williams takes reins at Niles West

Bob Williams wasn't sidelined from boys basketball for long.

On Monday night, one month after Williams resigned at Schaumburg, he was hired as the new coach at Niles West. Williams replaces Rolling Meadows graduate Fritz Wulfram.

Williams faces a rebuilding program similar to the one when he took over at Schaumburg. He built one of the state's most successful programs, as he was 347-155 in 18 seasons with a Class AA state title in 2001, a fourth-place finish in 1999 and an Elite Eight trip in 2006.
