Tiananmen Square should be no secret

Concerning Tiananmen Square, why have none of the world's news media focused on why the Chinese government is so worried about people knowing about the Tiananmen Square events? If this was not an important incident why would they be concerned about it?

Their attempts to eliminate Tiananmen Square from their history demonstrates the importance of the events. As a world leader the people of the U.S.A. and the United Nations should be attempting to increase the knowledge of the Tiananmen Square history to everybody in the world.
