Register for fall classes at ECC
Open registration for summer and fall credit classes at Elgin Community College will continue until classes start, space permitting. Summer classes begin the weeks of June 15 and 29 and July 13. Fall 16-week classes begin the week of Aug. 24; 12-week classes begin the week of Sept. 21; and eight-week classes begin the week of Oct. 19. Early registration is advised to get the best selection of courses and times. Students with an ECC identification number can register online at elgin.edu/accessecc. Otherwise, registration can be made in person at the registration center in Room 165 of the Student Resource Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. The registration center is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The college is closed Fridays through Aug. 7. Students will be expected to provide proof of having met course prerequisites, if documentation is not already on file with the ECC records office. Students with outstanding financial obligations to the college may not register until all bills are settled. For details, visit elgin.edu/register.
Railroad work closes road
A segment of Roosevelt Road between Kautz and Kress roads in West Chicago will be closed for two weeks starting Monday, June 8. Union Pacific workers will be making repairs to the rail crossing. The road is expected to reopen Monday, June 22. Detours will be posted that will utilize Kirk Road to Fabyan Parkway for traffic. For more information and alerts, visit dupageco.org/dot/construction.
Teen fitness class
Children ages 13 to 18 can workout together with certified personal trainers and learn to eat more healthfully in a summer camp that starts Monday, June 22 at the Persinger Recreation Center, Peck and Kaneville roads, in Geneva. The twice-a-week, six-week sessions cost $150 for Geneva Park District residents and $160 for nonresidents. There is also three-week session that is $80 for residents, and $90 for nonresidents.
