Achievers new slaves of government
Where have all of the adults gone? I see many toddlers looking for the government to care for every need, but not many people delighting in the freedoms and responsibilities of being grown-ups. The adult life rules are easy. Live a life you can afford. Be a good citizen. Own up to your failures. Accept bad breaks and get on with it.
These rules apparently don't apply anymore. Build a bad business? Don't be concerned about failure. Make your fellow citizens bail you out. Buy a home you can't afford? No worries. Make your fellow citizens pay. Overspend on your credit cards? No problem. Make those who handle their credit wisely pay with increased fees and interest. Didn't save for the future? It's OK. Your grandchildren's generation will pay. Get sick? Well, someone has to pay, and it's not right that it be you. Let insurance pay. Oh, and why should you have to pay for this insurance?
It's embarrassing that our great nation has become a pathetic, whining collection of children. It's everywhere. Envious comments about "luck" bombard at-home Moms, fitness buffs, second-home purchasers and any number of desirable situations that require choice, sacrifice and hard work. The wealthier among us are especially demonized as if somehow evil workings are more to credit than any admirable factor.
It's been said of America that we all have an equal opportunity. Now, it seems, many want equal outcomes. That will never happen because we all make different choices, some better than others. We're bailing out failure and taxing success. The achievers are becoming slaves of the government. Soon enough, they will have had enough and then who will pay? Is this the kind of hope and change anyone really wants?
