Two new restaurants to fill vacancies in Schaumburg

Two new restaurants are on their way to Schaumburg to fill the vacancies recently left by Davis Street Fishmarket and Pete Miller's Seafood & Prime Steak.

Unlike their predecessors, Wildberry Pancakes & Cafe and Westwood Tavern & Tap won't be competing for customers at the same peak times in the building they'll share at 1385 N. Meacham Road, Schaumburg's Economic Development Coordinator Matt Frank said.

The 26,000-square-foot building was the home of Prairie Rock Brewing Co. for seven years before being divided into Pete Miller's and Davis Street Fishmarket in 2007.

Davis Street Fishmarket closed during the winter and Pete Miller's in the spring, but interest in the prominent location just north of Golf Road didn't take long to materialize, Frank said.

Both new eateries are expected to open in late summer.

Wildberry will move into the Davis Street Fishmarket space and is to go before Schaumburg's zoning board for review June 17. Westwood Tavern & Tap, which is taking over the Pete Miller's space, will apply for a liquor license as soon as next week, Frank said.

This will be the second location of Wildberry Pancakes & Cafe, which already operates at 1783 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Libertyville.
