Elgin

• A few thousand dollars in electronics and cash was stolen Thursday night from The Learning Tree, a day care center in Elgin, police said. An employee at the center, located at 845 Summit St., called police after reporting for work and noticing numerous items missing. Among the items taken were a computer, three printers, $682 in cash, an LCD monitor, a camera, a DVD player, a CD player and calculators.

• A 52-inch flat-screen TV was taken sometime between 11:15 a.m. Thursday and 2:20 a.m. Saturday from a living room on the 200 block of Silver Court, police said. There were no signs of forced entry.

• A $350 GPS unit was stolen sometime between 7 p.m. Thursday and 5:30 a.m. Friday from an unlocked 2001 Ford Focus parked on the 400 block of Adams Street, police said.

Huntley

• A bicycle was stolen on Sunday, May 24 from an open garage on the 9900 block of Stockton Lane, police said.

Woodstock

• A 54-year-old Cedar Lake, Ind. man was in critical condition Saturday after he crashed his motorcycle into a Dodge Caravan Friday evening near Woodstock, police said. Michael J. Michelin was riding his Harley-Davidson west on Route 176, east of McCue Road, about 5:40 p.m. Friday when he tried to overtake several vehicles. While trying to pass, McHenry County Sheriff's police said, Michelin collided with the Caravan, which was making a legal left turn into a private driveway. The 60-year-old St. Paul, Minn. woman driving the Caravan was treated and released. Michelin, who was being treated at Rockford Memorial Hospital, was not wearing a helmet. An investigation is ongoing.
