Four charged in early morning raid in Aurora
Three adults and one juvenile have been charged with drug and weapons charges stemming from an early morning raid Friday by several law enforcement agencies in Aurora.
Police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said Aurora special operations investigators were assisted by agents from the FBI and ATF along with the department's SWAT team in executing three search warrants about 6 a.m. Friday in the 700 block of Huntington Drive and the 1100 block of Church Road.
"The Special Response team is commonly called out in situations where there is the propensity for elevated danger," Ferrelli said. "This investigation uncovered the possibility that there may have been guns and other weaponry involved during this raid."
Oscar Guzman and Rael Gonzales, both 20 and of the 700 block of Huntington Drive, were each charged with two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful use of a weapon after investigators raided both of their apartments and found a handgun and ammunition in each residence. A 15-year-old female in one of the apartments also was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis.
Police also arrested Sy-Nikol Gonzales, 24, of the 1100 block of Church Road. Gonzales is charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, after a search warrant was executed at his home and authorities seized about 200 grams of cannabis.
Ferrelli said all three of the adults were subjects of an ongoing investigation and were the targets of the raid.
The three adults were being held in the Aurora police lockup Friday afternoon pending their transfer to Kane County authorities for bond call. Ferrelli said the female juvenile is expected to be referred to Kane County juvenile authorities.
