Let's fire all state legislators
As we all know our state is in a real mess and the legislators are ready to throw some new taxes our way before they get out of town. Unfortunately their work is far from finished.
In effect they are leaving town while our state heads for monster new taxes. If they truly cared they would be staying around to take actions to ensure that any new taxes will be temporary - until they can make the appropriate cuts to eliminate most of the needs to continue with any tax increases put into effect temporarily.
Also the issues about cleaning up the government, eliminating waste in every area of the government, changing the wildly generous pension plans that severely drain the treasury, etc. all get put off for another day. To many of our legislators another day will be never if they can prevent the changes needed and still hold office.
In private industry if the key employees did this - if their companies were in a similar situation - they would be applying for unemployment benefits real soon thereafter. Let's vote them all out as soon as we can.
House Speaker Michael Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton should be the first to go. They are no better than the previous governor. They seem to most people to be seeking watered-down changes that will not effectively change the way government is run in our state. This will allow them to get the most campaign cash from the worst donors who are state employee unions and lobbyists who represent state contractors. These are the same groups who donated enough to get us in the mess we are in now.
