The free event lets people drop off items suitable for recycling that might otherwise end up in landfills such as electronics, scrap metal, books, tattered American flags, keys, eyeglasses, hearing aids, bicycles, cell phone and ink jet cartridges. The city will not accept household hazardous waste, construction materials, lawn mowers, air conditioners and appliances. For more information visit naperville.il.us/reuserecycle.aspx.
Install bricks at Riverwalk:
Naperville's Riverwalk Commission invites residents to help install the bricks that will replace the existing asphalt pathway along the Naperville Riverwalk west to the Jefferson Avenue Bridge from 8 a.m. to noon every Wednesday beginning June 3 and lasting through June 24. In 1981, Naperville residents gathered to place the bricks of the original Riverwalk. The community came together again in 2000 to build the Riverwalk extension from Washington Street to Hillside Road. This improvement to the Riverwalk is being built using recycled bricks from its rehabilitation project, as well as other projects including the reconstruction of the Gregory Gazebo and the Sesquicentennial Overlook. Participants will gather near the south side of the Jefferson Avenue Bridge.
