Sharp produces - no matter what line he's on
Trying to figure out which line Patrick Sharp will be a part of lately has almost been the Blackhawks version of Where's Waldo?
"He's all over the place," said forward Troy Brouwer. "Q's been rotating the lines so he's been sharing time with (Patrick) Kane and (Jonathan) Toews, (Ben) Eager and (Adam) Burish, and tonight he was playing with Sammy (Pahlsson) and Steger (Kris Versteeg)."
Sharp certainly wasn't hard to find late on Friday night.
He was the guy celebrating his game-winning goal with teammates and about 23,000 of his closest friends as the Hawks kept their hopes alive with a 4-3 victory over Detroit, cutting the series lead to 2-1 heading in Sunday's Game 4 at the United Center.
The goal, Sharp's second of the night, came just 1:52 into overtime and capped off a dominating shift for the Hawks.
"It was one of those shifts where the shift before had some great pressure, felt like a scoring chance was coming," said Sharp, whose first goal of the night came on a tip-in of a Brent Seabrook blast. "Matt Walker was cruising around pretty good in the offensive zone making things happen.
"We had great pressure for about 30 seconds and Sammy Pahlsson made a great pass to get it back door and I just wanted to make sure I hit the net."
Never a doubt there as Sharp blasted a one-timer from close range past Chris Osgood for his sixth goal of the playoffs, proving once again it doesn't matter whether he's on the first line or fourth, the guy is going to score.
"We played one of our strongest (games) of the playoffs so far in carrying it into into overtime," Sharp said. "So it was a big rally for our team."
"He's a professional, he's a leader and it doesn't matter what role he's called on to do, he does it," Brouwer said. "He's got that 'A' on his chest for a reason.
"He stepped up when we needed him most on the first goal and then finished things off on the last one."
