Prairie Arts Festival returns to Schaumburg for 22nd year

One of the most anticipated events of Memorial Day Weekend is back for the 22nd year.

The Prairie Arts Festival, the two-day, sophisticated fine arts sale and exhibition, is back in Schaumburg.

The 22nd annual event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24 on the grounds of the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center at 101 Schaumburg Court. Entry is free.

This year's fest boasts 154 artists, 13 food vendors and three stages of entertainment.

A wide variety of artistic media will be represented, including sculpture, painting and drawing, wood, glass, fiber, photography, porcelain, stone, ceramics and jewelry.

Musical styles on the three stages will include jazz, world fusion, guitar, folk, harp, classic rock and African kalimba. The musicians themselves are Mueller Group, Moodafaruka, Steven Suvada, Patchouli, Karen Banaszewski, Kalimbaman, Uncle Phil and the Greg Herriges Duo.
