Senior living open house:
Bickford Senior Living hosts its grand opening weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Sunday at 2875 Campton Hills Road in St. Charles. Fabyan museum opens:
Preservation Partners of the Fox Valley's Fabyan Villa Museum will open for the season from 1 to 4:30 p.m. today. Regular hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and 1 to 1:40 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. It is in the Fabyan Forest Preserve, Route 31 north of Fabyan Parkway, Geneva. See ppfv.org.
High school auto show:
As part of its annual auto show today, St. Charles East's Auto Club will sell a 1972 Porsche refurbished by the auto classes. Spectators will be able to enjoy the fun for free and can take part in the people's choice judging for each car class. There will be food, games, and prizes provided by area businesses. To register your vehicle is $10 for the public and $3 for students. The show will be run from 1 to 4 p.m. on Fighting Saints Lane off Dunham Road.
Legion contest winner:
Sam Harms, a senior at Batavia High School, won the District 11 American Legion Americanism Essay Contest. He will receive his award at 1 p.m. Sunday at the American Legion hall at 4000 Saratoga Ave., Downers Grove. Harms's entry was titled, "Where Are the American Heroes of Today?"
Memories of warriors:
Dennis Enneking, a Vietnam War veteran and member of Fox Valley-Geneva American Legion Post 75, will be dedicating his Memorial Day speech to local servicemen who paid the ultimate sacrifice. West Chicago burglaries:
West Chicago police are warning residents to follow simple safety tips after a rash of recent car break-ins. The thefts happened primarily overnight in the downtown residential area, between Washington and National streets, as well as Arbor Avenue and Route 59.
