Man arrested in connection with Glendale Hts. bank robbery

Glendale Heights police have arrested a 40-year-old Wheaton man they believe is responsible for a Thursday afternoon bank robbery.

Police said Aberilla G. Seferini walked into a TCF Bank branch at the corner of Glen Ellyn Road and North Avenue at 4:35 p.m. Thursday and demanded money from a teller. He never displayed a weapon or implied he had one, police said.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, police said Seferini fled the area in a black Honda CRV.

Investigators said they identified Seferini through a series of leads and arrested him at his home late Thursday.

He is charged with bank robbery, a federal offense with a maximum sentence of 20 years, authorities said.

The case remains under investigation and authorities are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call Glendale Heights police at (630) 260-6070 or the FBI at (312) 421-6700.
