Lisle teens charged with beating, robbing video store clerk

Two 16-year-old Lisle boys are in custody after police say they beat and robbed a video store clerk in Lisle before stealing her car.

Police said the woman suffered multiple cuts to her face as a result of the early Wednesdsay morning attack. She was taken to Edward Hospital in Naperville, but her condition and status is unknown.

The two teens have been charged with aggravated battery, aggravated robbery and vehicular hijacking. All three charges are felonies.

Police said the woman is an employee of Family Video, at Yackley Road and Ogden Avenue. She told police she locked up the store around midnight and placed her purse and night deposit bag in her car before taking garbage to a trash bin on the east side of the building.

She told investigators one of the attackers grabbed her from behind and placed his hand over her mouth while warning her that he had a gun. The attacker forced her to the ground, punched her in the face and slammed her head on the pavement about five times, police said.

During the attack, the woman said her attacker told an accomplice to find the keys the woman had dropped. When the second boy found the keys, the two fled in her car westbound on Ogden Avenue, the victim told police. She was able to provide descriptions of her assailants to the police.

Police responded to the attack at 12:15 a.m. At about 1:30 a.m. patrol officers recovered the victim's purse and an empty bank deposit bag on the 4600 block of Lake Valley Drive in Lisle. At 2 a.m. police located two boys matching the victim's description of her attackers and obtained a search warrant for their residence. Inside the boys' home police found the victim's car keys and bank deposit money. Police recovered the woman's car at 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Seager Park on Plank Road in Naperville.

The pair were in court Thursday, police said. Both boys remain in custody at the DuPage County Youth Home in Wheaton.
