We're fed up with misuse of power

Like the Daily Herald, I am fed up with the graft and corruption in the state of Illinois. Graft and corruption comes from the very core of our governmental institutions and the public is sick of it!

We are tired of public servants lining their pockets and protecting their power at every level.

Personally, I'm for cleaning up all government, county, state and federal. Now is the time for common sense. Now is the time to look into basic systems and clean out the do-nothings and excuse makers. Now is the time to replace political appointees with hard working, honest people who have the skill sets and moral courage to do their jobs.

We don't need more ethics legislation, we need more ethical legislators and government workers.

Now is the time to get mad and get active.

I suggest that lawmakers set up a joint Citizen's Task Force with the Daily Herald and work together to clean up our little corner of Illinois. Let's work together to form a nonpartisan committee to put the spotlight on the dirty secrets that are draining our state and local resources. Let's end pay to play politics, re-claim wasted tax dollars and restore order and pride in our government.

I would like to volunteer if my lawmakers will do this. I can start recruiting today if you are willing to get involved. If you don't know where to start, consider Oklahoma's steps. Maybe some of their reforms would work for Illinois.
