Liederbach steps up for Carmel

Freshman Frankie Cohen slammed 6 kills and Erik Liederbach lofted 16 assists, as Carmel's boys volleyball team outlasted Notre Dame 25-21, 28-26 in an East Suburban Catholic Conference match.

Liederbach, who's normally an outside hitter, was needed as a setter with two setters out with injury/illness.

"Erik did a great job of stepping up," coach Kevin Nylen said. "Perry Aden (4 kills, 8 solo blocks) had a monster game blocking, and freshman Frankie Cohen had a great day hitting. I thought Brandt Bernat, Alex Spike and Nick Russo did a real nice job in serve-receive against tough ND serving."
