Schaumburg man charged with possessing cannabis

A Schaumburg man was released on $5,000 bond Saturday after being charged with possessing cannabis during a traffic stop.

Joshua Mullenix, 19, of 1044 Boston Harbor, Schaumburg, was pulled over for a traffic stop in Arlington Heights when the police officer saw a plastic bag on the car floor that allegedly contained cannabis, said Matt Medina, a Cook County assistant state's attorney.

The bag was later examined and verified by police to contain 73 grams of marijuana, authorities said.

Mullenix was charged with one count of unlawful possession of cannabis, a class 4 felony. A hearing was scheduled for June 5 at Cook County Circuit Court in Rolling Meadows.
