You can visit Viking ship at Geneva park

Did you know that the Viking ship, from the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition, is housed at Good Templar Park in Geneva? Have you always wanted to see the largest remaining artifact left from the Columbian Exposition?

On Saturday, May 9, marks the first opportunity this year for the public to view the Viking ship in Good Templar Park, 528 East Side Drive.

Friends of the Viking Ship will host a "Viking Visitor's Day" from 1 to 4 p.m., describing the ship's amazing voyage from Bergen, Norway, to the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition and its subsequent adventures. You will see the stabilization work that has been done and walk up the ramp to view the inside of the ship.

The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for youth, age 4 to 17. Friends of the Viking Ship will also be accepting donations on May 9 to benefit the urgent rivet repair program. Come see this endangered artifact and help them on their way to save the Viking ship. For more information, visit the Web site at www.vikingship.us.
