Grateful Walker has taken an interest

I am writing to express my appreciation for state Rep. Mark Walker's visit to Buhrke Industries last week. Rarely do we see politicians reaching out to small businesses like ours and simply ask, "How can I help?"

He had no pretenses, no entourage, and no cameras -- just a sincere willingness to offer support to local businesses and a listening ear.

We are a tooling and metal stamping industry and times are not easy for us. Buhrke Industries has been around since 1949 and we employ 210 people; one year ago, we had 290 people. Times are changing, which is why we need accessible, responsive and honest leadership from lawmakers. We need more elected officials like Rep. Walker who will attentively listen to our concerns, help us problem solve, and then go back to Springfield and do something about it.

On behalf of Buhrke Industries, and on behalf of other small businesses whose voices often go unheard, I would like to thank Rep. Walker for taking the time and initiative to meet with us. This is the kind of leadership that the economy needs right now.
