Boats still forbidden on Fox River

Boats were still restricted Saturday evening from parts of the Fox and Middlefork rivers.

According to executive orders posted on Illinois Department of Natural Resources Web site, rising water levels, an increase in floating debris and dangerous currents led to the closings first announced Friday morning.

Access on the Fox River has been restricted in Kane, Lake and McHenry counties from the Montgomery Dam in Kane County to the outlet of Pistakee Lake near Johnsburg. In Vermillion County, the Middlefork River restrictions are from the Potomac City Park to Kickapoo State Park. Officials say the areas are off limits to recreational watercraft until further notice.
