Leaving Cook County is worth studying
Cook County Board President Todd Stroger on "Good Day Chicago" said he will not stand in the way of towns if they want to secede from the county. He also warns the towns that by doing so it will cost them more money for the services that Cook County provides.
I hope officials in the towns considering a new county take the initiative to identify what are essential services, estimate the costs of those services, and present the information to the voters. When a feasibility team is formed I would be glad to volunteer and participate in the study.
I feel it would be impossible to not cut expenses and save taxpayers money with an efficiently run smaller county than the current corrupt and bloated county government filled with patronage workers. Everyone who is unhappy with the taxes they are paying and the services they receive should discuss this with the newly elected city officials and urge them to talk to other suburban towns to at least put together a study which they can present to voters.
