Photojournalist at Friendship Village
Friendship Village of Schaumburg and Harper College will host a multimedia presentation by photojournalist Val Mazzenga, 1-2:30 p.m. Monday, May 4, in the Salt Creek Room at Bridgewater Place on the campus of Friendship Village, 350 W. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg.
Mazzenga's photographs have won more than 200 awards including five Beck Awards - the Chicago Tribune's highest accolade. He has been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize six times. His work includes prize winning photo essays on the late Mother Teresa, the late President Nixon and Michael Jordan.

Hoffman Estates is making a bike plan
The Village of Hoffman Estates is seeking input for its new comprehensive bicycle plan. Residents are invited to attend any of three open-house meetings: 3-7 p.m. May 7 at Lincoln School, 1560 Maureen Drive; 10 a.m.-1 p.m. May 9 at Thomas Jefferson School, 3805 Winston Drive; and 3-7 p.m. May 14 at Village Hall, 1900 Hassell Road.
People unable to make a session are encouraged to e-mail their thoughts about the future of Hoffman Estates' bicycle and pedestrian network to bikes@hoffmanestates.org.

Romance is a fairy tale in 'Sabrina Fair'
The Barrington High School Fine Arts Department will present the play "Sabrina Fair" at 7:30 p.m. April 30 and May 1 and at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. May 2 in the school's Richard C. Johnson Auditorium. "Sabrina Fair," is a modern retelling of Cinderella, made into the film 1954 "Sabrina," starring Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart, and remade in 1995 with Harrison Ford and Julia Ormond. The show is directed by Jon Lynn. Ticket prices: $7 adults; $5 students and free for senior citizens. The box office will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Friday. Join 'Rock 4 A Cure' May 9 in Palatine
The second "Rock 4 A Cure' fundraiser to benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life will be held 4-9:30 p.m. May 9 at Lamplighter's, 60 N. Bothwell St. in Palatine.
Three local bands will perform: Villa Avenue Band; the Cowbirds; and Crooked Moon. Cost is $5 at the door; a raffle will take place during the evening. (847) 991-2420.
