AU to host Criminal Justice career fair
Aurora University will host its second annual Criminal Justice Career Fair from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 30, in the University Banquet Hall in Alumni Hall, 1410 Marseillaise Place in Aurora. Admission is free. The sponsors are AU's criminal justice program and the AU Center for Adult and Graduate Studies.
Representatives of about 35 area agencies are expected to participate. Agencies scheduled to provide career information include the Aurora Police Department, U.S. Secret Service, Kane County Sheriff Department, Federal Bureau of Prisons and others.
Greg Thomas, Aurora Police Department chief, will give the keynote address at 2 p.m. His topic is "Linking Universities and Policing in the 21st Century."
Brandon Kooi, director of AU's Criminal Justice program, said the event has two goals: to provide an opportunity for students and members of the community to obtain information about various organizations and career opportunities in the field of criminal justice, and to provide agencies an opportunity to network with other agencies and obtain information on educational programs offered at AU.
