More info coming on Schaumburg SWAT team incident
Police expect to have more information Monday about an incident this weekend that resulted in a SWAT team being summoned to a Schaumburg apartment complex.
Just before 1 a.m. Saturday, a 39-year-old Hanover Park man showed up at the Hanover Park police station to say he had been robbed at gunpoint in an apartment on the 2300 block of Pennview Lane in Schaumburg, and there were other victims still tied up inside, Schaumburg police said.
Officers were sent to the scene and observed activity inside the apartment, so a SWAT team was assembled. It is an Emergency Services Team of the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System.
Police have so far only said that the situation was "successfully resolved" by 5:30 a.m. and that no one was injured.
One man was taken into custody, but no charges had been filed as of Sunday.
Sgt. John Nebl said Sunday that detectives are still working on the case.
"We are confident something illegal did happen up there," Nebl said. "Our detectives are still trying to sort that all out."
