Libertyville edges Carmel
Libertyville's baseball team keeps winning.
The Wildcats edged Carmel 4-3 on Friday, upping their record to 12-3 with their third win in as many days.
Kevin Johns blasted a double and drove in a run for the Wildcats, while Brooks McDowell got the win on the mound by striking out four and allowing just 2 walks.
For Carmel, Eric Stevenson had 2 hits.
Woodstock 8, Grayslake North 6: Grayslake North pounded out 12 hits, but rolled up 6 errors.
Joe Bowes and Ryan Gutierrez each had 2 hits for the Knights, who drop to 3-11 overall.
Stevenson 6, St. Patrick 0: Kyle Ruchim moved his record on the mound to 2-0 by striking out 8 St. Patrick batters and allowing just 1 hit and1 walk.
The Patriots, who got 2 hits from Corey Lasky and 3 RBI from Teddy Heiser, move to 13-2 on the season.
Warren 8, Zion-Benton 7: It was the Johnson and Johnson show for Warren.
Pitcher Jeff Johnson rolled up 11 strikeouts and gave up just 1 walk while Chad Johnson belted 2 home runs and drove in 2 runs.
Meanwhile, Sean Kennedy also had a home run for the Blue Devils and Scott Heelan went 2-for-3 with a double.
Grant 8, Wauconda 0: Grant pitcher Ryan Thorsen struck out 15 batters, which included a stretch where he fanned seven in a row and 12 of 13.
Offensively, Grant (7-7-1) got on the board on an RBI double from Nate Lucas. Ryan Magnuson, A.J. Sphor, Nick Guenther and David Dickinson also drove in runs and Jeremy Wiker went 2-for-3 at the plate.
Lakes 10, Harvard 6: Lakes charged out of the gates by belting 4 home runs (by Eric Lopez, Justin Hotle, Kevin Kelly and Travis Vanderwall) in the bottom of the first inning.
The Eagles wound up scoring all 10 of their runs in the inning.
Tyler Callese got the win on the mound for Lakes and Brian Baiocchi earned the save.
