Obama not up to Notre Dame honor
As a Catholic, I was disheartened that Notre Dame's president extended a commencement speaker invitation to President Obama and is planning to present him with an honorary degree. President Obama has, at every opportunity, expressed his anti-life stance and his commitment to putting that stance into law. How Notre Dame's president finds honor in that, I cannot fathom. This is not about tolerance, not about people just getting along, not about playing nice, this is about elevating someone to a position that they are not worthy of. That aside, I have not seen where anyone has questioned President Obama's acceptance. Why would he accept such honors when he knows that his political agenda is in direct opposition to Notre Dame's core values? By this time, he also knows that his acceptance has created conflict within the Christian community and yet he has not graciously stepped aside. Isn't that what an honorable man would do?
