Man accused of video recording Carol Stream mom and kids
An Addison man was arrested Monday for capturing images of a woman and her children through the window of her Carol Stream home, authorities said Thursday.
Sameer Raja, 37, was charged with a felony count of unauthorized video recording, four counts of disorderly conduct and one count of obstructing a peace officer, police said.
A resident called Carol Stream police about 11:35 p.m. Monday after seeing a man peeping into the window of a home. The caller said the man appeared to be taking photographs of the occupants, according to police reports.
When officers arrived, Raja tried to flee on foot but was apprehended. He had a camera phone with him that had numerous photos of a woman and her children inside the residence, police said.
Officers also found several condoms, baby oil and male enhancement pills in Raja's car, police said.
The female victim said she knew Raja as a casual acquaintance from her job at a restaurant, according to reports. Police said she had no other relationship with Raja, who didn't have permission to photograph or videotape the woman or her children.
Carol Stream Lt. Ed Sailer said Raja also has taken pictures at the home on at least three other occasions since April 12.
He said there was no evidence Raja had done the same anywhere else.
Raja was released after posting bond, which was set at $50,000.
