Dist. 220 student still suspended after threatening violence
The Barrington High School student arrested last week on charges he threatened violence at school will remain suspended from classes for now.
Seventeen-year-old Alberto Quevedo of Carpentersville was suspended and charged with disorderly conduct after officials said he made a threat of violence in the presence of a teacher and other students. Officials said Quevedo later said the threat was just talk.
A school board disciplinary hearing on the case began this week but wasn't concluded. It's expected to continue at the May 5 school board meeting, meaning the student will remain suspended at least until then, said Barrington Area Unit District 220 spokesman Jeffrey Arnett.
It's unclear if Quevedo could face expulsion. He'll also have to appear in court for the disorderly conduct charge.
