2 suburban water main breaks tangle traffic

Two water main breaks in the Chicago area slowed traffic during the Friday morning commute.

A water main break tangled traffic on Schaumburg Road at Branchwood Drive, authorities said. Eastbound Schaumburg Road was shut down due to high water on pavement and to give work crews room to fix the leak. Traffic had to share the westbound lanes of the road, officials said.

In addition, a water main break took place at North Avenue and N. Clinton Avenue near I-290 in Elmhurst, officials said.

Work crews there shut down one lane of North Avenue to fix the leak.
