Studio combines storytime and painting for tots
Color Me Mine along Randall Road in Geneva Commons is starting a new program, inspiring young artists through stories.
The paint-your-own pottery studio is hosting storytimes geared at preschoolers.
At the Paint Me A Story event the preschoolers will hear a story and then paint a piece of pottery that is meaningful to the story, said the studio's Stephanie Burkett.
"We have a lot of little kids that love to come in here," Burkett said. "We wanted to create something that was geared toward them."
On April 28, the Paint Me A Story event will center around Winnie the Pooh.
The preschoolers will hear the story "Everyone Is Special," and then paint a piece of pottery to go along with the Pooh theme.
Color Me Mine is encouraging parents to paint with their children to enhance the experience and create a fun project together.
The storytime is open to all ages, though Burkett said it is geared toward kids ages six and younger, or those who love Winnie the Pooh.
Burkett said this format has been popular at other studios, and hope it will be along Randall in Geneva, too.
"Hopefully we'll have at least one or two every month," she said. "It's really cute to have 4-year-old regulars come in and look forward to this each month."
It will run from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Reservations are needed, and a $10 deposit is required. Call (630) 845-0043.
