Group's study nights end in pizza party
Two Tuesdays a month the STC Underground, a teen center operated by the St. Charles Park District, hosts a Study Night for teens. The teen center is set up with study tables and after the teens study from 6 to 7:30 p.m. they're rewarded with a pizza party sponsored by the St. Charles Noon Kiwanis Club.
"We are fortunate to have a group as generous as the St. Charles Noon Kiwanis Club supporting our efforts to give the District 303 teens a safe and fun place to study and socialize," stated teen program and center director Darby Beasley. "Because of their sponsorship we are able to promote a hot meal and fellowship opportunities."
Beasley and the teen center supervisor, Sean Warren, make monthly visits to the grade schools and middle schools of District 303 to promote the STC Underground Teen Center, their programs and events.
Any District 303 student and parochial or home schooled students who reside within St. Charles Park District boundaries, age 11 to 19, can become a member of the STC Underground. The teens are required to present a school ID and a "Code of Conduct" signed by both the teen and their parent or guardian which is available on the Web site stcunderground.com.
The teen center is open from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 3 to 10 p.m. Fridays and 1 to 10 p.m. Saturdays. There are always two staff members present and there is a maximum capacity of 120 teens.
The next Study Night will be held on Tuesday, April 21. For more information, visit the Web site or call (630) 513-4380.
